In an unprecedented move, apparently one that has never happened before, nearly all U.S. Ambassadors to all nations have been called back to Washington for a summit conference. This event, mostly unreported, concluded on 4-Feb-2011.
Let's be honest: It's time to get rid of Black History Month. I can already hear the calls of racism, but I'm not a racist. In fact, I believe that this supposed celebration actually hurts race relations.
They made lots of promises -- and they already have broken many as they came out of the gate.

Last weekend's shootings in Tucson have prompted a string of resignations from within a local Republican Party in Arizona.
Corporations have a lot of control in the US and around the globe but I am beginning to wonder how deep the rabbit whole goes.
This seems totally nuts, purely on the merits. Obama and the Democrats passed a major stimulus that cut taxes for the middle class and invested heavily in public works.
This is what the new Arkansas state representative - elect, Republican Loy Mauch believes. He is part of and former head of a neo-confederate group, Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He is also a current member of The League of the South.
According to the McClatchy article, during the period between 1992 and 2006 (prior to the recession), "the top 1 percent of earners in the nation captured almost half of the growth in income over a period of stellar growth in the U.S. economy.
"If this were a functioning democracy, our financial institutions would be helping everyday Americans and businesses get the mortgages and loans -- the capital -- they need to keep going; but they're not doing that, even as the financiers are reaping robust rewards.
Thirty-five years ago, in a time that seems like ancient history to most young people today, the eminent social critic Robert N. Bellah wrote a book that illumines the current American crisis with devastating precision.
In a May 30, 2002, letter to the Bowling Green Daily News, Paul's hometown newspaper, he criticized the paper for endorsing the Fair Housing Act, and explained that "a free society will abide unofficial, private discrimination, even when that means allowing hate-filled groups to …
It didn't take long for Kentucky Republican Rand Paul to stumble into trouble.
Couldn't have gotten that from a better source.
The idea that President Barack Obama is a socialist is popular among many conservatives; all of us have seen automobiles sporting the bumper sticker reading, Don't Blame Me; I Didn't Vote For the Socialist — obviously referring to Obama.
Under the new laws, anyone the police suspects of being in the country illegally can be asked to produce an alien registration document, such as a green card, that allows non-citizens a right to work, and could face a $500 (£320) fine if they fail to produce one. This will be a …

"We simply decided to stop abiding by the fiction, which is aided and abetted by the mainstream press, that Fox is a traditional news organization," said Dan Pfeiffer, the deputy White House communications director.
Rather than in any way maturing, Fox has in recent months become more boisterous and demagogic in rallying the opposition against Obama. The "fair and balanced" mask has been slipping with increasing frequency
So many Science Fiction novels about a takeover by the robots portray the demise of Humanity by the Machines. We are not so far away from that scenario in the US in some very surprising areas of our lives. This is what I see happening from not only my personal life, but fr …
It is astounding how significantly one idea can shape a society and its policies. Consider this one. If taxes on the rich go up, job creation will go down. This idea is an article of faith for republicans and seldom challenged by democrats and has shaped much of …
More details are emerging on the autopsy results for Trayvon Martin, and earlier reports that his knuckles were skinned (as if from a fight) seem to have been inaccurate. The autopsy reported only a tiny abrasion about a quarter-inch long on his left ring finger. And poss …

Hetep and Respect thanks for stopping by and asking a question. As a general rule I don't questions in my comments & Feed back section, but I see you do so I will respond here, if that is OK with you.
Aunk, just dropping buy because I was curious about what you thought regarding that Senator Wilson and his calling Obama a liar during a congressional address?
Politically it is a bad thing. Publicly disrespecting the office of The President of the United States of America in a joint session of congress is a disgraceful breach of etiquette.
Culturally, South Carolina is the state responsible for having Africans in America declared 3/5 of a Human being. It is part of what the NYT maps as the bigot belt. It is a state that remains filled with anti-humanists that were fighting to fly the anti-Black confederate flag on their state building. Jim (the lie) Wilson is a proud card carrying member of the extremest group sons and daughters of the confederacy. I think we know the cultural orientation of the congresses Joe the plumber.
P.S. I have been meaning to stop by and say, your common sense humanistic approach to life and American government is most refreshing.
Thanks, you are right about education being a deterent. That is why I have written the articles. You are the very 1st person to ever leave a comment on my column, so allow me to return the favor and have a look around yours.

Yes, it supposedly limits bonus to 1/3 of annual salary, and has to be taken in stock in the bank, until money is paid back to gov. Is That correct? I believe that we should have let the banks fail just like they did in 1929. Why are we rewarding failure. The bank officer's had to know that these bad loans would fail. It was like paying the low income people to fail more. Token kindness that knew it would not succeed. If the builders can't sell their over priced houses, the sales price would drop and then the homeowner might just be able to pay the mortgages.
The next step would be that the real estate taxes (Texas) would be lowered an the mud district taxes would be lowered so people could afford to live in a home. Greed from the builders, real estate agents, bank officers and mortgage companies who turned a blind eye to buyers credit and the amount of money it would take to sustain the mortgage, taxes and utilities are what caused this problem. In other words, the government is continuing on its business as usual and we have NO CHANGE in President Obama.
If we have $800 billion dollars we should have given it back to those US Citizens who file income tax returns. Divide the money equally and that will provide lots of stimulus, pay off the mortgages and return to a cash flow society........
